ANGELIA ANDERSON

Drug and Alcohol Addiction Counseling in Denver, Co.

Angelia Anderson

THHemail@treasurehouseofhope.com

Angelia Anderson became a licensed Drug & Alcohol Counselor after beating the odds of being addicted to drugs and alcohol over half of her life. She answered her calling in 2000, and immediately became involved in working with women in transition from some of the same life problems she once experienced. Angelia has earned a BA in Human Services and is a licensed CACIII.
In 2008, she married Dwight Anderson and the two agreed that Denver Metro area lacked sufficient resources to help prevent homelessness, recidivism, and non-compliance with court mandates and drug & alcohol related treatment so, they opened the doors of their home to women and men from the Colorado Department of Corrections, City and County Drug Courts, and the homeless to offer hope to the hopeless.
Angelia believes strongly that changed lives begin when each one of us takes personal responsibility for the mishaps and dysfunctions we contribute to our families, communities, and society as a whole. Her vision isĀ ā€œChanging Lives ā€“ Restoring Familiesā€ on a global scale.
Today, as Executive Director she oversees the daily operations of the Treasure House of Hope, an on-site training center that focuses on people who are desperate for change due to hopelessness and failure in their lives.

TESTIMONIES

Resources: Testimonials

ā€œJericho Girls helped me recover my life. I guess I would say that no one grows up thinking, Iā€™m gonna be a huge drug dealer, raging addict and a felon one day.

You are ā€˜normalā€™ or what appears to be normal, and then the next time you look in the mirror, youā€™re everything that you never imagined you would be.

I went from a college-going, married mom, to a dope cooking, selling felon.

There was no end in sight for a long time, and I didnā€™t want an end. If it ended, then there I would be, left with myself, my thoughts, my feelings. All the issues Iā€™ve been running from my whole life.

ā€‹

Using drugs was only a symptom of the condition. The condition was being spiritually sick. Using drugs is like putting a band-aid on a bullet wound. It just wonā€™t work. Until the bleeding wounds (trauma, abuse, self-esteem) are healed, youā€™ll just keep bleeding.

The only true healing a person can get comes from the Lord. Knowing He loves you. HE is not mad at you. He loves you so. And you are the daughter of the Kingā€¦ a child of the star breather. When you know whose you are. You know who you are.

ā€‹

Sometimes in order to save your life, you must first lose it. But what your gaining is so much better. Put as much effort into your relationship with the Lord and youā€™re recovery as if you are chasing your recovery the way you used to chase your dope man.ā€ God has healed meā€”From dope dealer to hope dealer.  God only has good plans for your life. Stop getting in His way. And let Jericho Girls help you.ā€ ~Stephanie

"I was a meth addict and didnā€™t believe there was a Godā€”especially one who loved me. The Jericho Girls met me where I was, right where I was. Iā€™ve never experienced such acceptance and love.  Today, Iā€™m thriving in relationship with God and his ā€œGirls.ā€ Iā€™ve recovered from addiction and my life is forever changed. Iā€™m connectedā€”surrounded by an army of women and learning of Godā€™s great love for me." ~Crystal

ā€‹

"When Dawna started this journey over five years ago and invited me to be a part of it, I was done with relationships.  There were several areas of my life where relationships had gone bad. I was hurt and emotionally drained. I was just going to ā€œpower throughā€ and make it on my own.  Who needs the heartache, stress, and complications of dealing with others, right?  While that may seem like the best path, many times God calls us to be in fellowship with others. He created us to connect, share, rely on, and help each otherā€”not to live in isolation.

So I joined Jericho Girls, and we had open discussions about difficult topics. Our walls began to come down, allowing us to be authentic with each other. It was a healing experience. As the women in our group began to let their guards down, we related to one another.  We are all broken inside, arenā€™t we?

Jericho Girls groups are a tool for women to find other women for connection. Real connection. When you have close girlfriends to celebrate the good things of life and support you through the tough times, it makes a world of difference!  Gathering with Jericho Girls is where we discover the power of connectedness. It takes courage to be vulnerable and not hide. To not be judged, but also learning not to judgeā€”accepting each other for who we are, transforms us.

Iā€™m personally connected with two other women in my group and we pray for each other throughout the week. To have women to do life with is so empowering. Ecclesiastes 4:12 says:  'Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.'  Do you hear that call in the distanceā€¦for the journey to Jericho?  I tried to ignore itā€¦Iā€™m glad I didnā€™t.  Plug into a group and see what creative ways you can connect with others."
